Lakkos Project
A stone holiday residence in West Mani, completed on a steep and demanding site through careful structural and landscape integration.
Lakkos, West Mani, Greece UNDER CONSTRUCTION
290m²
The Lakkos Project concerns the completion of a partially built private stone holiday residence, located on a steeply sloped plot with particularly high technical demands, in the Lakkos area of West Mani. The project comprises approximately 290 m² of main living spaces and an additional 90 m² basement.
The existing structure presented significant challenges, both due to the morphology of the terrain and the architectural composition of the building. The project involved a stone-built residence characterized by a large pitched roof, extensive openings, and strong vertical development—elements that required careful management during completion to ensure structural integrity, functionality, and overall architectural coherence.
Alongside the completion of the building envelope, extensive interventions were carried out in the surrounding landscape. These included the construction of terraced levels, stone retaining walls, staircases, and circulation paths, all fully integrated with the natural topography and landscape of the area. The connection between levels was achieved through gentle curves and the use of traditional materials, reinforcing the cohesive character of the project.
The company undertook the full permitting process for the completion, as well as the construction and execution of the project, with particular emphasis on stonework detailing, the proper completion of the roof structure, and the careful handling of large openings. The final result is a high-quality holiday residence that faithfully reflects the architectural character of Mani, while seamlessly incorporating contemporary standards of comfort and use.
